Do you trust your law enforcement? Well this movie will put a serious dink in their credibility if you believe all the things in this movie. Denzel Washington plays as Alonzo Harris a training officer. His character can be described in about one word-street.
Depending on your beliefs, and where you come from you might think he takes to strong of an action for the situations that arise or you might think he is right on target. That is the beauty in this movie that most people might not appreciate. I found myself thinking or justifying some of the things he was doing just because of the situation Denzels character was in.
Where is the point where right becomes wrong, and policing becomes criminal. This movie observes those lines, pushes them around, even obliterates them at some instances.
A new trainee comes on board Denzels bunch Jake Hoyht played by Ethan Hawke. Little does he know what he is getting himself into as he quickly is committing some of the acts that he would otherwise arrest other people for.
Denzel stresses the point that he can't observe the traditional laws of a regular cop because they hunt for the big main producers of the crime. The head honchos. Slowly it seems that he is being convinced that the means justify the ends. Only to be thrown into situation after situation that he can't possibly justify.
This movie is probably going to win somebody an award. Check it out and see if you would do some of the things they do.
