The Marine is the first movie starring WWE superstar John Cena. According to the state of the world and the situation that we find ourself in The Marine seems like it is released at the perfect time. To bad this Marine doesn’t have the bite that it needs to.

The story goes something like this. Marine John Triton (John Cena) is kicked out of the service because he doesn’t follow orders. Instead of finishing his career as a marine he is drummed out of the service. He returns home to a loving wife (Kelly Carlson), but no job that can stoke his fires. We pass through a scene where he is a security guard quickly, and then we find him chasing down the men who have kidnapped his wife. There is nothing that can bring out the ire of a man until you take what he holds most dear. It is a pretty good storyline until then, but then the film just gets silly.

There are supposed to be big explosions in an action film, but I almost lost count of how many times John Cena just barely escaped being blown up. What made that even worse was the fact that he used the same move on all of them. It was like watching a porn movie with a loop. I felt that the action was adequate but come on. This guy is a professional wrestler. If he can’t give us any better physicality than a Arnold or a Sylvester than what is the purpose of the film?

My best bet for this movie would be when it hits video.
