In the film “The Doors”, Val Kilmer plays as the irrepressible Jim Morrison. One of the most sensual and exciting figures in the history of rock and roll. The film takes place in the sixties and shows the exploits of a legendary outlaw who rocked America.
Val Kilmer, in probably his best role, is electric as Morrison. Through his portrayal of the man you can see some of the things that made him the legend that he became. Up until the time of this film I couldn’t have cared less about the Doors (rock and roll is not my forte) or what they represented to America. Val Kilmer’s portrayal of this man stopped that.
No wonder the film is directed by the equally controversial Oliver Stone (The People vs Larry Flint, JFK), but believe me, the two characters and their style are an energetic mix. The film is more about Jim Morrison, and less about the band than you might expect from the title, but you quickly get over that fact. Morrison’s life was one that was weird and out there according to the film. You simply can’t take your eyes off the film once you set your eyes on it.
This film was released first to the world in 1991, but now you can pick it up in DVD and UMD (Playstation) format. It comes with English and Spanish subtitles.
