Vincent is the man. You will realize it almost instantaneously as his character hits the screen, and starts to manipulate every person in his life. Vincent could easily be described as selfishness personified as he puts his wants above everyone else’s desires, and that includes the woman (Stephanie) he is supposed to be in love with. What would happen though when the immovable object meets the unstoppable force? We find out quickly when the sweet Caroline (Natasha M. Leroux) enters the picture. She seems sweet, and demure, but we quickly see that she has the number of one name Vincent.
This picture released in 2001, and directed by Carl Ulrich hits the nail on the head in its portrayal of Vincent (Simon Boisvert) the star of the film. You could easily associate his character with someone you have seen that treats his girl like dirt. The questions we all ask ourselves like; how could she be with that guy or she’s so pretty why is she with him are answered. Simon Boisvert does a wonderful job in his ability to just tell it like it is. His straightforward approach to friends, and foes alike only seems to make his character that much more sinister. He’s sitting there telling you what he is going to do folks, and looking you straight in the eye while he’s doing it. The only option that you have is to accept it or go do your own thing.
He gives that option to Stephanie several times, and we see the clinginess of a woman who relies on a man for a sense of self. Stephanie (Diane Lewis) could easily be the girl next door. The one that would go to no end for her man, and suffer through hell just to be with him. Diane Lewis infuses her character with all of these traits, and it only adds to the scenes that are shared between Vincent and Stephanie.
This film is the first in a set of two, and if you don’t get your fill of Vincent in this one you have the opportunity to see him in the second film called Guys, Girls, and a Jerk in which it seems all these characters return for an encore.
Here’s one guy who hopes that the exploits of Vincent and crew will continue.
