Review of:Rush Hour 2 (2001)
Director:Brett Ratner
Rating:PG-13
Starring:Jackie Chan, Chris Tucker, John Lone, Zhang Ziyi and Roselyn Sanchez
What can you say-Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker are the new millenium Lethal Weapons only with great humor, and great physical stunts. Both return in this follow up to the first one with Det. James Carter (Chris Tucker) taking a vacation to Hong Kong or so he thinks. Detective Inspector Lee is a workaholic, and they end up taking a case involving the bombing of the U.S. embassy in Hong Kong.
The rapor between the two actors is apparent as it seems we are watching two close friends try to find out the responsible parties. This case seems to have some history behind it, because it ends up involving the partner of Inspector Lees dad Ricky Tan played by John Lone. The two while getting closer, and closer to the truth end up getting put off of the case. Det. Carter, and Jackie end up going back to Los Angeles to follow a lead. They are helped/hindered by a beautiful Special Agent Isabella Molina who they don't entirely trust.
Deadly Triad gangs are the bad guys in the movie as they are trying to move counterfeit money in huge volumes on the populace. The counterfeits are so high quality that no banks can tell the difference unless they burn the money (The counterfeits burned red while the real money burned black).
Det. Carter and Detective Inspector Lee trail down who they think is the guilty party only to find out what the real reasoning, and the real culprits later on in the film.
This movie throws you some unexpected curves, and a whole bunch of laughter. Good chemistry, with a decent storyline have me wanting a #3.
