Review of:Dr. Dolittle 2 (2001)
Director:Steve Carr
Rating:PG for language and crude humor
Starring:Eddie Murphy, Kristen Wilson, Raven Symone, Kevin Pollak and Kyla Pratt
Usually a sequel can't stand up to it's predecessor. This new installment of Dr. Dolittle can stand on it's own two feet, and can even run. The comedic presence of Eddie Murphy in the film has hit a level that is truly enjoyable to watch. The story that unfolds is about the conservation of a forest. A forest that is filled with animals that need the good professors help. In order to legally stop the cuttings they have to come up with a legitimate reason. Endangered species is the ticket that they punch, and ride to an enjoyable movie.
The story has a focus on one lone Pacific Western Bear who resides in the forest. In order to have a chance to save the forest Dr. Dolittle has to recondition another Pacific Western Bear from captivity. Dr. Dolittle is in for more than he bargained for when he tries to change the city bear into a confident forest bear. On top of that he deals with his oldest daughter Charisse Dolittle's (played by Raven-Simone of Cosby fame) inability to communicate with him. She has hit the grand age of sixteen and hormones are brewing. All of this adds up to a good movie. It has some great voice talent, and some new additions to the animals used. In this movie you will find something that the whole family can watch, with good clean laughs. Enjoy
